Contained is a continuation of my work exploring our relationship with the natural world, as modern humans. 

The impasto paintings draw inspiration from a single environment, which is uniquely interpreted within each piece of work.

These expansive landscapes are confined within the boundaries of a vessel - a form commonly used to present nature in curated, decorative and ephemeral  way. 

The series invites viewers to consider the duality (or tension) in our connection to the natural world: an object of admiration and a living entity requiring our protection.

This oil painting is created on genuine raw brass, backed with 25mm FSC certified pine ply, and finished with varnished edges. This design makes traditional framing unnecessary, though a framer can easily add one if preferred. Please note that brass is a soft metal and may feature minor imperfections - you can read more here.
